Biological risk management Consulting

Creating high reliability Organization management expertise

Our methodology is consistent with the family of standards relating to risk management codified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 31000:2009, ISO 35001, ISO 35010:2009 and ISO 21500 Guidance on Project Management standard).  It is designed to be consistent with and complement efforts to move from a culture of compliance to a culture of safety, as called for by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ, DHHS), The Joint Commission, the American Nurses Association and the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC)

Risk assessment

CHROME takes an 'all risks'  approach to developing biorisk management plans for biological facilities.

CHROME has developed its own proprietary methodology for risk assessment.

We have specifically adapted the approach for application to:

  • Diagnostic laboratories
  • Research laboratories and research programmes
  • Animal laboratories
  • Medical care settings
  • Emergency responders

Our risk assessment is based on a full description of work being done (location, buildings, equipment, technology, people, organisms, vectors, activities and work flow).  This approach allows hospitals and laboratories to utilize platforms, such as iPads and phones, to create an always-on hazard vulnerability analysis (HVA) with a visual read-out of hazards, vulnerabilities and risks interventions by location within a facility.
